Sail aboard the WWII Liberty ship JOHN W BROWN – July 13 to 14, 2024 Join the crew of the Liberty Ship SS JOHN W. BROWN as we sail from our home port of Baltimore to Colonna’s Shipyard in Norfolk, VA on Saturday July 13, 2024! Here is a chance for you and a guest to do something different and you get to help take the ship to the shipyard. A one year membership to Project Liberty Ship is included for both of you, so you can really feel like part of the crew. You and your guest will share a stateroom for our overnight voyage and enjoy the fine chow served by our Steward’s Department. As crew members you’re welcome to help with all the many tasks aboard ship, or you can sit back and enjoy the scenery. During the trip, you’ll each get a chance to steer the ship and operate the throttle*. Shortly after arriving at Colonna’s, you’ll board the crew bus for the ride back to Baltimore. Don’t miss out on this rare opportunity to experience an overnight trip on a WWII Liberty Ships. *Subject to approval by the Master/Chief Engineer depending on conditions. **Date is subject to change for reasons beyond our control. You must be physically able to climb the shipboard ladders (stairs) and negotiate high hatch coamings to participate. Our gangway has 38 steps. No weapons or drugs are permitted; this includes medical marijuana which is still illegal under federal law. All crew must be aboard by 0800 on July 13th and participate in fire and abandon ship drills. You are welcome to come aboard on Friday and participate in all the preparatory tasks before sailing. Crew is not covered by medical insurance, so you should have your own coverage. You will be required to submit our medical information card to participate. We will contact the winning bidder shortly after the auction ends with more information. For your info : Accessibility Policy The JOHN W. BROWN is a Historic Ship and is fully restored and maintained as close as possible to her World War II configuration and lacks modern conveniences.
