ORIGINAL VINTAGE TRIP/PHOTO ALBUM – Photographic Record of the S.S. Statendam cruise ship in 1937. Album weighs almost 4 pounds, so will have to be shipped by Priority Mail. Album is well organized and is filled with photos, promotional information, destinations, menus, and much more. CRUISE - Left New York City, cruised 4326 miles, covered six tropical ports, Puerto Rico, Guadeloupe, Grenada, Trinidad, Venezuela, and Curacao. Contents Post Cards – 8 Postcards Photographs – 60+ Photos – some are nice 5x7 street scenes of Grenada, Trinidad, Caracas, Curacao. Others are snap shots of on-board activities. Also has paperwork, menus, brochures, and booklets on places and the cruise. The SS Statendam was a Dutch passenger ship built by Harland and Wolff for the Holland America Line as a replacement for the second Statendam which was sunk after being torpedoed six times on 19–20 July 1918. The ship was laid down in 1921, but due to the changes in American emigration laws and shortages of steel in England, construction of the ship was slow and the ship would not be completed until 1929. During World War 2 the ship was still in service until she was called back to the Netherlands.
